As is well known that a hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) network is a telecommunication technology in which optical fiber cable and coaxial cable are used in different portions of a network to carry broadband content. By using HFC, a local CATV company installs fiber optic cable from the cable head-end to serving nodes located close to business and residential users and from these nodes uses coaxal cable to individual businesses and homes. The various services are encoded, modulated and upconverted onto radio frequency (RF) carriers, combined onto a single electrical signal and inserted into a broadband optical transmitter.
CATV fiber optic transmitter is a special optical transmitting equipment in HFC broadband transmitting network. It converts the electrical signals to a downstream optically modulated signal that is sent to the nodes. Fiber optic cables connect the headend or hub to optical nodes in a point-to-point or star topology, or in some cases, in a protected ring topology.
FiberStore’s CATV optical transmitter series offer great flexibility to meet the demands of todays’ CATV requirements. These transmitters use directly modulated DFB technology for transmission of optic signal at 1310nm wavelength, and utilize superior circuit design to support automatic temperature and power control. They are mainly used to transmit analogy TV signal, digital TV signal and INTERNET data signal in 860MHz frequency.
According to the different application, these 1310nm optical transmitters are divided into indoor and outdoor type, with either standard MGC or AGC function. The pre-distortion circuit makes product have excellent non-linear index, ensure optical fiber network and long distance transmitting, make out users cover. RF-input point and power supply with lighting proof, the waterproof design also make it suitable for any bad outdoor environment. AGC optical transmitter, with MCU monitoring circuit to control the working status of the laser, it will display in the LCM/VFD on the front panel, and can be interfaced with a network management system via a RS232 or RS485 port for status monitoring.
